Students of Grade 6 to 8 participated in the activities: Declamation & Slogan Writing, with full enthusiasm and spirit of nationalism. As a significant drop in the ocean, MW DPS Varanasi organised a special activity on 21st October to commemorate the INA Raising Day. The official journey of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” commenced on 12th March, 2021 which was a 75-week countdown to our 75th anniversary of Independence and will end on 15th August, 2023. This Mahotsav is dedicated to the people of India who have not only been instrumental in bringing the country thus far in its evolutionary journey but also hold within them the power and potential to enable the vision of activating India 2.0, fuelled by the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat. ‘When you catch a glimpse of your potential, that’s when passion is born’- Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture, and achievements. School (Primary School) linking the SDG Goal 6 ( Clean Water and Sanitation).The children enjoyed sharing their learning with other kids and expressed their joy and reflection to the Principal and the teachers. Out of all the students 10 representatives accompanied by three teachers went to distribute the green bins to a nearby Govt. Keeping this thought and to spread awareness about proper disposal of waste, students took interest to prepare their own bins out of waste materials.

Students were explained how to use their classroom dustbin to throw non- biodegradable waste and how to use the common green bin for throwing biodegradable waste ,which can further be used for composting. The segregation of waste into biodegradable and non-biodegradable and the use of green and blue bins was also a part of this activity. The objective of cleaning is not just to clean, but to feel happiness living within that environment.Īn activity ‘Clean School, Green School’ was conducted for a month for the students of Class 4 in which students went to see a compost pit and took an interview from the gardener of the school to understand the process of it. The meeting was coordinated by Mr.Siddharth Rajgarhia, Director DPS, Varanasi, Nashik, Nagpur along with educators Ms. The objective of the meeting was to discuss the guidelines of the project so that the educators are well aware of the steps and requirements of the project.
It will be a 5 monthly project wherein the students will work on the SDG chosen unanimously chosen by them. The formal launch of the project will be on 26th February 2022. Educators from International schools participated in the meeting. The Cohort 2 project organised by DPS schools of Varanasi, Nashik, Lava Nagpur serves as a platform for school students to get together to work on issues which may seem afar but are relevant to every country. The process was ethereal as well as surreal. The five elements of human beings were nourished by the slow consumption of raisins.
The session began with the ‘5 Raisins Meditation’ which was a guided mindfulness session by Mrs.Rajashree Vaidya from DPS, Lava, Nagpur. International SDGs Collaborative Project Cohort II, Educators meet was held on.
